ARVs are no silver bullet in the fight against AIDS, but if properly administered and manufactured, they can help carriers of the diseases maintain productive lives. Despite this, untested and poor quality ARVs have been foisted on many in Africa by the WHO and western NGOs, according to Thompson Ayodele. Africans DO deserve high quality medicines. What they don't deserve is the increased risk of rising drug-resistance and increasing illness. The WHO's prescription for fighting AIDS is nothing but a sticking plaster on a massive wound, and it is fast becoming unstuck.
