International Policy Network’s Alec van Gelder will be speaking at this panel discussion on the topic of  “What would a world without copyrights look like?” in Brussels on June 22nd 2010.

This panel discussion – jointly organized by the Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC) of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) will be held in conjunction with the “Inter Parliamentary Forum on Contraband, Counterfeiting and Organised Crime Exposition” (22-25 June) in the European Parliament. MEP Marielle Gallo from the EPP Group is hosting this event.

The objective of this gathering is to educate on and reinforce the criticality of IPR when it comes to innovation, creativity, cultural diversity, jobs, quality of life, and health and safety. Basically we look to focus attention on our daily activities, the role played by IP and IPR, and why it is of the utmost importance that we protect this system.
